We Ring in the Summer with our 24/7 Emergency Department

It’s one of the best times of the year: the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and children are playing outside once again. Yet, with this newly reacquired freedom comes the familiarity of stubbed toes, broken bones and everything in between.

When faced with an injury, the question then becomes “how serious does an injury need to be before utilizing the ER?” It’s a question we’ve all struggled with at one time or another and one that should never be disregarded.

Fortunately, here at Methodist McKinney Hospital, our 24/7 Emergency Department has you covered, no matter the situation. With short wait times and no referral needed, we’re here for you when things don’t go quite as you planned.

So, what exactly does an emergency situation look like? The most common cases we treat include general illness (viruses, flu and dehydration); orthopedics (x-rays, fractures and sprains); abdominal pain for maladies like appendicitis, colitis and pancreatitis; and stitches or staples for cuts, gashes and wounds.

Other reasons to visit the ER would include labored breathing, pain in the arm or jaw, sudden dizziness or bodily drooping, the sudden inability to speak, see, walk or move, serious burns, severe pain, heavy bleeding, poisoning or overdosing on drugs or alcohol, persistent dizziness or seizures.

We always have a dedicated physician on-call for any minor emergency that you may encounter. Even if you don’t feel like you need medical attention, it’s better to be safe and let one of our physicians care for you.

So get back outside and enjoy this time of year because with Methodist McKinney Hospital, rest assured that we’ll be here!
