Understanding Hospital Charges, Billing, & Payments
No Surprise Billing Act
The Charge, Billing, & Payment Process
Methodist McKinney Hospital is committed to providing compassionate health care services to every patient who walks through our doors. We’ll help you navigate the charge, billing, and payment process prior to your visit so you can make an informed decision regarding your out-of-pocket costs.
Generally, patients make financial arrangements and verify their insurance coverage prior to hospital registration. All patients are responsible for paying for every health care service they receive at our facility.
We look forward to partnering with you on your health care journey.
For financial inquiries or billing questions, please call 972-569-2700, option 5.
How to Request a Hospital Charge Estimate
We based charge estimates on the information you (the patient) provide. These charges do not include additional procedures, services, or tests that your physician orders after the initial estimate, after unforeseen complications occur, or charges you receive from your physician that are billed separately.
Physician Billing Process
Physicians who bill separately and might be out-of-network include (but are not limited to):
- Primary Care Physicians
- Specialty Care Physicians
- Emergency Room Physicians
- DME Products
We understand that patients sometimes require special financial arrangements. If this is the case for you, please call our business office at (972) 569-2700 and choose option 5 when prompted. Call prior to your surgery so we can discuss alternative payment methods. Our patient account representatives are available 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday to discuss financial arrangements. Methodist McKinney Hospital accepts cash, cashier’s checks, all major credit cards, and personal checks accompanied by a valid ID.
Methodist McKinney Hospital bills your primary and secondary insurance providers or governmental agency directly for facility fees. It’s important that you bring your most current primary and secondary insurance, Medicare, or public assistance card on the day you receive hospital services.
Make note of your insurance plan’s admission policies. You or your physician might need to adhere to specific requirements to ensure maximum reimbursement. Failure to obtain pre-authorization, a physician referral, or a second medical opinion might significantly reduce or eliminate your benefits.
For your convenience, you also can pay your bill online with a credit card or bank transfer. Click here to be directed to Methodist McKinney Hospital’s secure online payment page.

Understanding your physician billing process
Physicians are independent contractors and are not employed by Methodist McKinney Hospital and physician prices are set by the individual practice. Professional fees charged by these physicians for services provided to you will be billed by these physicians separately from the fees charged by the hospital. Some of these physicians may be considered out of network by your insurance carrier despite the hospital being in-network with your insurance carrier. You will need to work with your insurance carrier to address this issue.
Physicians who will bill you separately and may be out of network include but are not limited to:
- Primary care physicians
- Specialty care physicians
- Anesthesiologists- assigned by your surgeon
- Emergency room physicians
- DME Products
